The Chinese company LimX Dynamics, which released a versatile bipedal robot last year, Tron 1<\/a><\/noindex> with a modular leg design, demonstrated what it is capable of. The robot jumps over low barriers, climbs stairs, and easily overcomes obstacles. It turned out to be not easy to throw it off balance.<\/p>\n

The modular limb design of the Tron 1 allows for changing the robot's \"feet\", including equipping it with wheels. With these, the machine confidently moves over any terrain\u2014on flat surfaces the robot rolls, it jumps over low obstacles, and climbs stairs without much difficulty. In practice, Tron 1 can be useful, for example, in searching for victims in disaster zones. However, its capabilities are limited: the maximum incline angle of surfaces the robot can traverse is 15\u00b0; the maximum height of obstacles is 15 cm; the permissible operating temperature range is from -5 to 40 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n

The Tron 1 is controlled via a remote control, and it supports programming functions for performing tasks in semi-automatic mode; it also has the ability to be directed on an autonomous mission. LimX Dynamics did not specify which of the modes was used in the demonstrations. The robot's dimensions are 392 \u00d7 420 \u00d7 845 mm, and its weight is 20 kg. The drives, operating at 48 V, generate a torque of 80 N\u00b7m; the 240 Wh batteries support hot swapping\u2014each lasts for 2 hours of autonomous operation. The computing part is handled by an Intel Core-i3 12th generation processor, with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Tron 1 is available in standard ($15,000) and educational ($30,000) versions\u2014the latter comes with an extended set of features. LimX Dynamics also produces quadrupedal and humanoid models. <\/p>\n
