After two and a half years since the release of version 6.4, the version 6.4.1 of the DragonFly BSD operating system has been released. DragonFly BSD was created in 2003 as an alternative development branch of FreeBSD 4.x. Notable features of DragonFly BSD include the distributed versioned file system HAMMER, support for booting 'virtual' kernels as user processes, the ability to cache data and file system metadata on SSD drives, context-aware variant symbolic links, the ability to freeze processes while saving their state to disk, and a hybrid kernel that utilizes lightweight threads (LWKT). <\/p>\n

The release of DragonFly BSD 6.4.1 is a corrective update that addresses some accumulated issues. For example, a problem in the pkg package manager was fixed, which caused configuration files df-latetest.conf to be deleted during updates. A memory leak in the IDE\/NATA driver that led to the kernel entering a panic state has been resolved. Issues encountered on systems with UEFI only have been addressed. The ca_root_nss package has been updated, resolving issues with pkg working with the Avalon repository over HTTPS.
