The release of the Firefox 141 web browser has occurred, and updates from previous long-term support branches have been formed \u2014 140.1.0, 115.26.0, and 128.13.0. The Firefox 142 branch has entered beta testing, with a release date scheduled for August 19. <\/p>\n

Experimental support for automatic tab grouping has been added, based on a locally running AI model that identifies tabs with similar topics. After dragging one tab over another or opening the context menu with group options, the browser now displays the button 'Suggest more of my tabs'; clicking this brings up a list of similar tabs for quick inclusion in the group. The AI also suggests a relevant group name. This feature is not yet enabled by default for all users and will gradually be activated for an increasing percentage of users. To force this feature on, you can enable the 'browser.tabs.groups.smart.enabled' setting on the about:config page.

The ability to resize the tools area at the bottom of the vertical tabs sidebar has been provided. To separate the space for tabs and tools, simply move the horizontal section divider with the mouse. If all tools do not fit in the selected area, some will be moved to a collapsible menu.

A unit converter has been integrated into the address bar, supporting the conversion of time zones and measurements of angles, distances, temperatures, mass, and force. When clicking on a result, it will be copied to the clipboard.

In the builds for the Linux platform, memory consumption has been reduced, and the requirement for a restart after updates using the package manager has been removed.\n
For users in Brazil, Spain, and Japan, the address auto-fill feature in web forms has been enabled, which was previously available only for the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, and Austria.\n
By default, the WebGPU API and the WebGPU Shading Language (WGSL) are enabled in builds for the Windows platform. For Linux and macOS, WebGPU support will be included in one of the upcoming releases; until then, WebGPU can be activated through the 'dom.webgpu.enabled' and 'gfx.webrender.all' settings on the about:config page. WebGPU provides an API similar to Vulkan, Metal, and Direct3D 12 for performing operations on the GPU side. It enables JavaScript applications to control the setup, processing, and transmission of commands to the GPU, as well as manage related resources, memory, buffers, texture objects, and compiled graphics shaders.\n
