The Wine project has released version 1.17 of the vkd3d package with an implementation of Direct3D 12 that operates via call translation into the Vulkan graphics API. The package includes the libvkd3d libraries implementing Direct3D 12, the libvkd3d-shader with a translator for shader models 4 and 5, and libvkd3d-utils with functions to simplify porting Direct3D 12 applications, as well as a set of demonstration examples, including the port of glxgears to Direct3D 12. The project code is distributed under the LGPLv2.1 license. <\/p>\n
The libvkd3d library supports most features of Direct3D 12, including graphics and compute tools, queues and command lists, descriptors and heap descriptors, root signatures, unordered access, Samplers, command signatures, root constants, indirect rendering, and Clear*() and Copy*() methods. In libvkd3d-shader, the translation of shader model bytecode into the intermediate SPIR-V representation is implemented. It supports vertex, pixel, tessellation, compute, and simple geometry shaders, as well as serialization and deserialization of root signature. Among the shader instructions, arithmetic, atomic and bitwise operations, comparison operators, data flow control statements, sample, gather and load instructions, and unordered access operations (UAV, Unordered Access View) are implemented. <\/p>\n

The HLSL shader language implementation has added initial support for shared memory of thread groups, expanded support for geometry shaders, and introduced a parser for StructuredBuffer resources.\n
Development of the MSL (Metal Shading Language) shader language implementation continues, used by Apple in the Metal graphics API. For instance, MSL has gained support for loops, indirect addressing of constant buffers, texture sampling, and various integer arithmetic and comparison operations.\n
A new method, EnumerateMetaCommands(), has been added to the implementation of the ID3D12Device5 interface in the libvkd3d library.\n
A new type of shader, «tx» (VKD3D_SHADER_SOURCE_TX), has been added, which is used for loading texture processing shaders. <\/ul>\n
