Most of the APIs developed by the Privacy Sandbox were intended to replace third-party cookies, which were planned to be phased out in Chrome.         <\/p>\n<p>Originally, the blocking of third-party cookies was set to be implemented by 2022, but the rollout was postponed year after year due to industry resistance and low adoption levels of the technologies developed to replace cookie-based user tracking methods. Earlier this year, Google decided to abandon this initiative and maintain the current approach. Now, six months later, it has also been decided to discontinue the promotion of many APIs and technologies developed to enhance privacy and enable ad delivery without identifying users through third-party cookies.          <\/p>\n<p>APIs and technologies whose support will be discontinued:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> IP Protection \u2014 allows hiding the user's IP address from website owners by sending traffic not directly, but through a chain of proxy servers. When IP Protection is enabled, the target server sees only the proxy's IP address as the incoming IP. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/en\/vpn\/\"   title=\"VPN\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"286\">VPN<\/a>.\n<li class=\"l\"> API Topics (replacing API FLoC) \u2014 provides the ability to define user interest categories that can be used to highlight groups of users with similar interests without identifying individual users through tracking cookies. Interests are derived from the user's activity in the browser and are stored on the user's device. With API Topics, the advertising network can obtain general insights into specific interests without having information about the individual user's activity.\n<li class=\"l\"> API Attribution Reporting \u2014 allows assessing ad effectiveness characteristics such as clicks and conversions (purchases on the site after a visit). To determine the effectiveness of shown ads while maintaining individual user privacy, the W3C organization, in collaboration with various browser developers, is developing a new Ad Attribution API that ensures the accumulation of aggregated statistics on conversions of displayed ads. Google will use this API instead of its own version.\n<li class=\"l\"> Private Aggregation \u2014 for aggregating and obtaining information about data used across different websites (cross-site). For example, the API allows the creation of summary reports on visitor uniqueness (first-time and repeat site visits) and user demographics.\n<li class=\"l\"> API Shared Storage \u2014 storage of data in a key-value format, without binding to <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/en\/domain\/\"   title=\"domain\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1244\">domain<\/a> and with the ability to access the storage from different websites.\n<li class=\"l\"> API Protected Audience \u2014 solving retargeting tasks and assessing a website's own audience (working with users who have previously visited the site).\n<li class=\"l\"> API Related Website Sets \u2014 determines the relationship between websites, based on which browsers can allow limited cross-site access to data.\n<li class=\"l\"> requestStorageAccessFor \u2014 an extension to the Storage Access API for requesting permissions for cross-site access to stored data.\n<li class=\"l\"> API Related Website Partition \u2014 allows external scripts to work with a group of related websites.\n<li class=\"l\"> API Select URL \u2014 allows the selection of the displayed URL based on inter-site data in Shared Storage, without revealing this data.\n<li class=\"l\"> API Protected App Signals \u2014 preserves information about user activity while using applications, which can be helpful for displaying ads that consider the user's interests. For example, the API allows the accumulation of information about the number of installations, first launches, time spent in the application, purchases made, and actions performed.\n<li class=\"l\"> SDK Runtime \u2014 provides the ability to run third-party libraries in an isolated process separate from the Android application process, preventing library functions from accessing the resources and memory of the process.\n<li class=\"l\"> On-Device Personalization \u2014 technology for personalizing user experience on Android devices, using locally stored data that is not sent to external servers.    <\/ul>\n<p>APIs that have been decided to be preserved, as they are already established and implemented in other browsers:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> FedCM (Federated Credential Management) allows the creation of unified identification services that ensure privacy and operate without third-party cookies.\n<li class=\"l\"> CHIPS (Cookies Having Independent Partitioned State) \u2014 allows cookie isolation bound to the top-level domain using the 'Partitioned' attribute. Under normal conditions, third-party code from site 'C', embedded on sites 'A' and 'B', can process cookies shared among those sites, but when using the 'Partitioned' attribute, cookies set by site 'C' will be completely separated when loading code from sites 'A' and 'B'.\n<li class=\"l\"> Private State Token \u2014 enables the differentiation of users without using cross-site identifiers and transfers user authentication information across different contexts. The API is useful for separating bots from real visitors without explicit data identification transmission. The essence of working with the API is that a certain site, where the user is authenticated or verified through CAPTCHAs, can generate a token stored on the browser side.
