Oracle has formed a new branch of the MySQL database system, version 9.5.0. The MySQL Community Server 9.5.0 builds are prepared for all major Linux distributions, FreeBSD, macOS, and Windows. According to the release model introduced in 2023, MySQL 9.5 is classified as an 'Innovation' branch. Innovation branches are recommended for those who want early access to new features, published every 3 months, and are supported only until the next significant release (for example, support for version 9.4 will cease following the release of branch 9.5). An LTS release 9.6 is planned for winter, recommended for deployments that require predictability and a long-term unchanged behavior. Following the LTS branch, a new Innovation branch, MySQL 10.0, will be formed. <\/p>\n

The option 'activate_mandatory_roles' has been added for advanced role management \u2014 when the 'activate_all_roles_on_login' setting is disabled and 'activate_mandatory_roles' is enabled, mandatory roles (automatically assigned to the user upon connecting) are supported in addition to standard roles.\n
The MySQL Multilingual Engine plugin has implemented support for the ECMAScript 2025 specification in its JavaScript language implementation.\n
The mysqldm (MySQL Diagnostic Monitor) utility has been added, designed to collect diagnostic information (analyzing the execution of a predefined set of queries), which can be submitted by the user to support for easier problem resolution.\n

In replication settings, advanced security options are now enabled by default, implying the use of encryption for all connections during replication.\n
The MySQL Thread Pool plugin has implemented automatic parameter adjustments to achieve maximum performance based on the existing hardware configuration.\n
The behavior of the 'innodb_log_writer_threads' parameter has been changed; its default enabling now depends on the active binary redo log mode (log_bin). When 'log_bin' is inactive, the 'innodb_log_writer_threads' parameter is enabled for systems with more than 4 logical CPUs, and when active \u2014 for more than 31 logical CPUs.\n
By default, the value of the 'binlog_transaction_dependency_history_size' parameter has been increased from 25,000 to 1 million. The maximum possible value for this parameter has been increased from 1 to 10 million.\n
The default value of the 'caching_sha2_password_digest_rounds' parameter has been increased to 10,000.\n
The use of the SCRAM-SHA-1 authentication method for connecting to SASL LDAP has been deprecated. Instead, the SCRAM-SHA-256 method, which is now set as the default in the 'authentication_ldap_sasl_auth_method_name' parameter, should be used.\n
Support for the variables 'group_replication_allow_local_lower_version_join' and 'replica_parallel_type', which were previously deprecated, has been discontinued.\n
Support for building on Solaris using Clang and GCC has been added. The use of OpenSSL 3 on Solaris has also been enabled.\n
The minimum supported version of Cmake has been raised to 3.17.5.\n
Nine vulnerabilities have been eliminated, the most severe of which has been assigned a danger level of 5.5 out of 10.
