Corrective releases for supported branches of the Postfix mail server 3.x have been published \u2014 3.10.7, 3.9.8, 3.8.14, and 3.7.19. The new versions fix a problem with building from source code that occurs in new versions of Linux distributions that have switched to the GCC 15 compiler set, which by default has transitioned to using the C23 standard. <\/p>\n
The issue is that the C23 standard defines a new reserved keyword 'bool', which is mapped to a type of size 1 byte. In the Postfix code, a custom 'bool' type is defined, mapped to the 'int' type, which has a size of 4 bytes. Attempting to compile Postfix with a compiler in C23 mode results in an error due to the redefinition of the 'bool' type. Support for the new 'bool' type has been implemented in the under-development branch of Postfix 3.11.
