The developers of the Debian project have announced the official port status of the distribution edition for systems based on the LoongArch (loong64) architecture. Packages for LoongArch are available for installation from the Debian Sid (Unstable) repository. The LoongArch instruction set architecture is used in processors by Loongson and implements a RISC ISA similar to MIPS and RISC-V. <\/p>\n

At the initial stage of integrating the new port from the debian-ports package base, a minimal set of 112 source packages has been manually compiled and imported into the official archive, sufficient for creating an initial chroot environment and setting up the build service buildd. Currently, around 300 new packages have been compiled and uploaded in the running instance of the buildd service for LoongArch. It is anticipated that the bootstrap process for the new port will take about a week.
