As an emulator, QEMU allows running programs compiled for one hardware platform on a system with a completely different architecture, for example, running an ARM application on an x86-compatible PC. In virtualization mode, the performance of code execution in an isolated environment is close to that of a hardware system due to the direct execution of instructions on the CPU and the involvement of the Xen hypervisor or KVM module in Linux, or the NVMM module in NetBSD.    <\/p>\n<p>The project was originally created by Fabrice Bellard to enable running Linux executables built for the x86 platform on architectures other than x86. Over the years of development, support for full emulation of 14 hardware architectures has been added, and the number of emulated hardware devices has surpassed 400. In preparing version 10.2.0, more than 2,200 changes were made by 188 developers.     <\/p>\n<p>Key improvements added in QEMU 10.2:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for FreeBSD has been added to the 9pfs backend, allowing the Plan 9 network file system to enable access from one virtual machine to another.\n<li class=\"l\"> A new Live Migration mode 'cpr-exec' has been added, allowing for reduced resource consumption during updates. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/en\/vps\/\"   title=\"of virtual machines\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2251\">of virtual machines<\/a> and potentially allows the reuse of existing states and connections during an update.\n<li class=\"l\"> The main event processing loop in QEMU has been transitioned to use the io_uring asynchronous I\/O interface on systems that support it, resulting in performance gains.\n<li class=\"l\"> User-mode emulation has been improved, allowing the execution of individual processes compiled for another CPU. The fchmodat2 system call has been implemented, support for the MADV_DONTDUMP and MADV_DODUMP flags has been added, and improvements have been made for aarch64, hppa, and microblaze architectures.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for the amd-versal2-virt board model has been added to the ARM architecture emulator, implementing the AMD Versal virtual SoC. Improved support for the 'AST2600', 'AST2700', 'AST1030', and 'xlnx-zynqmp' boards. Emulation of CPU extensions FEAT_SCTLR2, FEAT_TCR2, FEAT_CSSC, FEAT_LSE128, FEAT_ATS1A, FEAT_RME_GPC2, FEAT_AIE, FEAT_MEC, and FEAT_GCS has been implemented.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for emulating the HP 715\/64 workstation, NCR 53c710 SCSI controller, and HP LASI I\/O controller has been added to the HPPA architecture emulator.\n<li class=\"l\"> The PowerPC architecture emulator has added support for the PowerNV11 and PPE42 CPUs. For pSeries hardware, the FADUMP (Firmware-Assisted Dump) mechanism has been implemented to create state dumps after system failures.\n<li class=\"l\"> The RISC-V architecture emulator has implemented the MonitorDef HMP API, and OpenSBI (Open Supervisor Binary Interface) has been updated to version 1.7, bringing a significant number of corrections.\n<li class=\"l\"> In the s390x architecture
