Valve has released the Proton 10.0-4 project, built on the Wine codebase and aimed at enabling the launch of Linux gaming applications designed for Windows and featured in the Steam catalog. The project's developments are distributed under the BSD license. <\/p>\n

Proton allows you to run gaming applications provided only for Windows directly in the Steam Linux client. The package includes implementations of DirectX 8\/9\/10\/11 (based on the DXVK package) and DirectX 12 (based on vkd3d-proton), which work by translating DirectX calls to the Vulkan API, offering improved game controller support and the ability to use fullscreen mode regardless of the screen resolutions supported by the games. To enhance the performance of multi-threaded games, the mechanisms 'esync' (Eventfd Synchronization) and 'futex\/fsync' are supported. <\/p>\n
