After a year of development, the release of the free cross-platform interpreter for classic quests, ScummVM 2026.1.0, has been published. It replaces the executable files for games and allows many classic games to run on platforms for which they were not originally intended. The project's code is distributed under the GPLv3+ license. <\/p>\n
A total of over 500 quests can be launched, including games from companies like LucasArts, Humongous Entertainment, Revolution Software, Cyan, and Sierra, such as Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Myst, Blade Runner, King's Quest 1-7, Space Quest 1-6, Discworld, Simon the Sorcerer, Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, and The Legend of Kyrandia. Support is provided for running games on platforms including Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, PS Vita, Switch, Dreamcast, AmigaOS, Atari\/FreeMiNT, RISC OS, Haiku, PSP, PS3, Maemo, GCW Zero, and others. <\/p>\n

The ability to scale the output from 3D engine shaders has been added.\n
The engines Access, Buried, Drascula, EFH, Hypno, Lab, Neverhood, NGI, Petka, Pink, Prince, Private, Queen, Sherlock, Supernova, Sword25, Teenagent, Tetraedge Titanic, Toltecs, and Voyeur have added the ability to redefine keys, as well as mouse and joystick buttons.\n
The engines ADL, AGI, CinE, Cruise, Draci, Drascula, EFH, Gob, Hugo, MADE, MM, Parallaction, Prince, and Wintermute have added support for speech synthesis.\n
Significant updates have been made to the Private Eye engine's sound subsystem, and support for external subtitles has been added.\n
The SCUMM engine has been significantly redesigned, introducing support for the original in-game graphical interface for DOS, Macintosh, and Windows.\n
Improved compatibility with graphic cards has been achieved in the Stark engine.\n
The version numbering has been changed, using the scheme 'year.month.update' instead of the format 'X.Y.Z'. <\/ul>\n
