Chris Mason, the creator and maintainer of the Btrfs filesystem, has published the review-prompts project, which includes a collection of scripts and prompts designed to set up the review process for changes in the Linux kernel and the system manager systemd, using AI assistants like Claude Code. The project includes files to clarify the peculiarities of various subsystems and protocols, allowing the AI assistant to better understand the context when reviewing, debugging, and verifying changes. <\/p>\n

It also provides templates and checklists for identifying and classifying typical errors (examples for dbus and the network subsystem) as well as instructions for generating automated reports via AI. After reviewing patches, a file review-inline.txt is produced, formatted as an email draft for sending to the kernel developers' mailing list. <\/p>\n

It is noted that many false positives when analyzing changes via AI are caused by a misunderstanding of the specifics of the codebase, and the published prompts are aimed at providing the AI with the necessary information to make correct decisions. Currently, the rate of false positives when using the proposed set is approximately 10%.
