The compilation failed due to a redefinition of a variable. Such a level of code quality frustrated Linus, who stated that he would not accept changes from the MMC subsystem maintainer for kernel 7.0, even if a corrected pull request is received. Changes for MMC will be accepted in the 7.1 branch only if they are verified in the linux-next branch and properly tested. Linus strongly advised against sending him untested crap, and instead recommended integrating changes into the Linux-Next branch for code review first.
