After two years of development, the release of Lakka 6.1 has been presented (release 6.0 was skipped), allowing you to turn PCs, set-top boxes, or single-board computers into a fully functional gaming console for retro game playback. The project is a modification of the LibreELEC distribution, originally designed for creating home theaters. Lakka builds are created for i386, x86_64 (Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD GPUs), Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, Banana Pi, Odroid, etc. To install, simply write the distribution to an SD card or USB drive, connect a gamepad, and boot the system. <\/p>\n
At the core of Lakka lies the RetroArch gaming console emulator, which enables the emulation of a wide range of devices and supports advanced features such as multiplayer gaming, save states, enhancement of old game graphics using shaders, rewind functionality, gamepad hot-plugging, and video streaming. Emulated consoles include: Atari 2600\/7800\/Jaguar\/Lynx, Game Boy, Mega Drive, NES, Nintendo 64\/DS, PCEngine, PSP, Sega 32X\/CD, SuperNES, and more. Gamepads from existing consoles are supported, including Playstation 3, Dualshock 3, 8bitdo, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. <\/p>\n

For Raspberry Pi platforms, a separate build has been added, created specifically for connection to CRT televisions. The build includes output optimizations for analog port connections, preset support for 240p and 480i resolutions, and changes to RetroArch settings for authentic behavior on CRT televisions.\n
A new script has been added for configuration during the initial startup. The user can add wireless connection parameters to the wifi-config.txt file and override RetroArch settings in the retroarch-overrides.txt file, and these changes will be applied at the first boot.\n
The Mesa package has been updated to version 25.1.9.\n
The Linux kernel has been updated to branch 6.18 (previously branch 6.1 was used). For Raspberry Pi boards, kernel 6.12.66 is used as there are stability issues in branch 6.18. <\/li>\n
