Main changes:

A vulnerability has been fixed that allowed an attacker controlling the username passed when launching the ssh utility to potentially execute arbitrary shell commands. The vulnerability manifests in systems using the substitution «%u» in certain directives of the configuration file, such as «Match exec». The problem is caused by the verification of special characters in the username at the stage after executing %-substitutions in the ssh_config file.

A security issue in sshd has been resolved due to incorrect matching of the authorized_keys principals=»» option with the list of names (principal) in the certificate in cases where the names contain the character «,». To exploit this vulnerability, the authorized_keys principals=»» option must specify multiple names, and the certification authority must issue a certificate with multiple names separated by a comma (which is generally not allowed). The behavior regarding certificates with empty names has been changed — previously, an empty name fell under all authorized_keys principals=»» options, but now it does not.

In scp, a problem has been fixed that caused the setuid/setgid flags not to be cleared after uploading a file with root permissions when the «-O» option was specified and the «-p» option was not.

In sshd, a problem with handling ECDSA keys in the PubkeyAcceptedAlgorithms and HostbasedAcceptedAlgorithms directives has been resolved. As a result, when any ECDSA algorithm (e.g., «ecdsa-sha2-nistp384») is specified, all other ECDSA-based algorithms will also be accepted, even if they are not explicitly listed in the allowed list.

In ssh and sshd, support for identifiers (codepoints) defined by IANA in the draft-ietf-sshm-ssh-agent specification has been added when interacting with SSH agents. Support for previously used identifiers of the form «@openssh.com» has been retained.

The ssh-agent has implemented the «query» extension defined in the draft-ietf-sshm-ssh-agent specification, allowing for the determination of supported agent functions. An option «-Q» has been added to the ssh-add utility for querying the list of supported protocol extensions via the «query» request.

In sshd_config, specifying multiple files in the RevokedKeys directive is now allowed, and in ssh_config — in the RevokedHostKeys directive.

The escape command "~I" and the option "-O conninfo" have been added to ssh to show information about the current connection, as well as the option "-O channels" to display information about open channels.

In sshd, the PerSourcePenalties directive has been implemented with the 'invaliduser' option to add a delay in case of a login attempt with a non-existing user (default is 5 seconds). The ability to specify non-integer delay values has also been added.

In sshd, the GSSAPIDelegateCredentials option has been added to control the acceptance of delegated credentials provided by the client.

In ssh-keygen, support for writing ED25519 keys in PKCS8 format has been added.

Support for the ed25519 digital signature scheme has been implemented through libcrypto.

Source: opennet.ru
