Microsoft is testing a new model of Edge browser behavior in Windows 11. Participants in the Windows preview testing program report that a banner appears at the top of the web browser, stating that the application 'now launches at Windows startup, so it\u2019s ready when you want to browse the web. Journalists from Windows Central have confirmed that in the latest beta version of Microsoft Edge, this banner indeed appears at the top of the interface, and if the user does not click the 'No, thanks' button, the browser will automatically launch upon system login.<\/p>\n

It is still unclear whether this behavior is enabled only if Edge is set as the default browser. Beta testers claim that the ability for Edge to auto-launch does not disappear or get disabled even if another browser is selected as the default. There may be settings that prevent this Edge feature from being automatically enabled.<\/p>\n

For users who spend most of their time in Edge, its automatic launch may not be off-putting. Windows already pre-loads its browser in the background to improve performance, so automatically displaying the application itself seems a logical extension of Microsoft\u2019s policy.<\/p>\n

Alongside this intrusive behavior of the built-in browser in Windows, Microsoft is testing a new design<\/a> for the Edge user interface, which resembles Copilot more closely.
