The release of the free document layout package Scribus 1.6.6 has been announced. The package provides tools for professional print layout, includes tools for PDF generation, and supports working with separate color profiles, CMYK, spot colors, and ICC. The program is written using the Qt toolkit and is distributed under the GPLv2+ license. Ready binary builds are prepared for Linux (AppImage), macOS, and Windows. In version 1.6.6, mainly bugs have been fixed, the code of many plugins has been cleaned up, scaling has been improved when importing documents from MS Publisher, and files for building in MSVC 2026 using the Windows 10 SDK have been added. <\/p>\n

The release of Scribus 1.7.3 has been published simultaneously. The 1.7 branch is presented as experimental \u2014 after final stabilization and acknowledgement of its readiness for widespread adoption, a stable release of Scribus 1.8.0 will be formed based on the 1.7 branch. The 1.7 branch is notable for its port to Qt 6, support for dark themes, conversion of icons to SVG format, a new implementation of dockable tool panels, and a redesign of the color picker.
