The developers specifically remind that besides OpenBSD, <strong>OpenBGPD-portable<\/strong> works on <strong>FreeBSD<\/strong> and Linux distributions <strong>Alpine, Debian, Fedora, RHEL\/CentOS, and Ubuntu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What's new in OpenBGPD 9.1<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>outbound filter processing is accelerated by storing rules in an array and deduplicating identical filters between peers;<\/li>\n<li>error logging has been improved for attribute parsing failures that cause session resets through UPDATE ATTRLIST error notifications;<\/li>\n<li>new memory metrics have been added for show rib memory, some of which are also available in show neighbor;<\/li>\n<li>a logical error in processing MRT dump configurations for per-peer and per-group has been fixed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The main focus of OpenBGPD 9.1 is not on expanding the feature set, but on enhancing performance in high-load scenarios. The  <strong>outbound filters<\/strong>: rules are now stored in an array, and identical filters between neighbors are deduplicated. According to the project authors, together with changes in filter_set, this allows a significant reduction in initial synchronization time on large route servers by more than <strong>25%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Improved handling of <strong>filter_sets<\/strong> during <strong>RDE<\/strong>. The project has moved away from the previous scheme in favor of a linear array of set objects to reduce cache misses and thereby speed up route processing through filtering policy. For network operators, this essentially means continuing to optimize OpenBGPD for heavy configurations and intensive BGP scenarios, where not only correctness but also predictable behavior under load is important.<\/p>\n<p>Another notable change concerns observability. OpenBGPD 9.1 introduces <strong>new memory metrics<\/strong>, available via the show rib memory command; part of this data is now also tracked <strong>by neighbors<\/strong> and displayed through show neighbor. At the same time, error logging for attribute parsing failures that may lead to BGP session resets with notification <strong>UPDATE ATTRLIST error<\/strong>.
