On April 21, a major release of QEMU version 11.0 took place \u2014 a free and open-source program for emulating hardware across various platforms.<\/p>\n
The update includes:<\/p>\n

a new processor model for Intel Diamond Rapids; <\/li>\n
new \"nitro\" accelerator for launching Nitro Enclaves (allows launching isolated environments (enclaves) directly through QEMU on hosts that support Nitro technology, without the need to use standard AWS tools); <\/li>\n
support for CET virtualization on KVM; <\/li>\n
support for integrated context drivers for the virtio-gpu graphics driver (a new technology for passing graphical acceleration to a virtual machine, making graphics work almost as fast as on real hardware (up to 99% of host performance); <\/li>\n
support for network configuration commands in the emulated BMC (Baseboard Management Controller); <\/li>\n
for RISC-V, added support for Zilsd and Zclsd extensions, support for the RISC-V ZALASR extension, and support for the Smpmpmt extension; <\/li>\n
for PowerPC, support for snapshots for multiple devices has been added, and for LoongArch, support for PMU migration for KVM has been introduced; <\/li>\n
several ARM changes, such as the ability to run binaries using the old OABI ABI, support for architectural features FEAT_ASID2 and FEAT_E2H0 ARMv9, SMMUv3 IOMMU acceleration, and TCG support for emulating processors with SME but without SVE; <\/li>\n
the ARM support service receives a new property \"virtio-mmio-transports\", allowing unused virtio-mmio transport vehicles to no longer be provided to the guest, as well as support for the property \"kvm-psci-version\", enabling the specification of which version of PSCI KVM should provide to the guest; <\/li>\n
in HPPA, support for the 64-bit A400 server and 64-bit firmware extension PAT for SeaBIOS-hppa version 22 has been included, support for 40- and 44-bit processors with physical address space in SeaBIOS-hppa version 23, and full initialization of Astro PCI in SeaBIOS-hppa version 24; <\/li>\n
also for HPPA, improved support for the 64-bit version of HP-UX has been added, initial support for multi-core computers has been introduced, support for emulating 64-bit processors with 40- and 44-bit physical address space has been added, support for 64-bit GDB has been introduced, and TOC support on 64-bit computers has been added; <\/li>\n
WHPX has received improved and faster emulation code and support for x2apic and vapic; <\/li>\n
For MSHV, a Linux kernel version 6.19 is now required; <\/li>\n
the process of \"dirty synchronization\" (dirty sync \u2014 when a virtual machine moves from one physical server to another without stopping) has been optimized for unaligned ramblocks using KVM; <\/li>\n
The NFS block driver has gained support for libnfs version 6; <\/li>\n
and much more... <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Among other changes, this release includes all available CSRs in the \"info registers\", added information about the acceleration of \"riscv-aia\" to the documentation, added support for the MIPS P8700 processor, and added support for booting from virtio-blk-pci devices on IBM zSystems and LinuxONE (s390x).<\/p>\n
To emulate user mode, QEMU 11.0 provides support for termios2 (TCGETS2, TCSETS2, TCSETSW2, TCSETSF2 ioctls), improved output for mremap() strings, and an updated statx() system call. Last but not least, this release implements a guest network route for Windows.
