D7VK operates through the translation of calls to the Vulkan API and allows retro games dependent on Direct3D 3, 5, 6, and 7 to run on Linux using Wine. The project code is written in C++ and is distributed under the Zlib license. The development is based on the d3d9 backend code from the DXVK project\u2014D7VK converts Direct3D 3, 5, 6, and 7 calls to Direct3D 9 calls, which are then translated into Vulkan API calls. The developer does not intend to include D7VK in DXVK, as was done with the implementations of Direct3D 8 and Direct3D 9 over Vulkan.<\/p>\n<p>The new release proposes an implementation of the ProcessVertices method using the CPU, which has resolved rendering and geometry distortion issues in many games, including Forsaken, Resident Evil, Praetorians, Hidden &amp; Dangerous, Escape from Monkey Island, and Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation.<\/p>\n<p>The proxied presentation mechanism has been replaced with a legacy presentation implementation that supports compositing methods used in older games utilizing DDraw to overlay 2D elements on top of 3D content.
