Google has announced a new generation of the reCAPTCHA bot detection system, used on many websites to verify human interactions. In this new implementation, instead of selecting pictures that correspond to a given question, confirmation is done through scanning a QR code with a smartphone. The issue is that among the requirements for smartphones that can be used to pass the captcha are relatively new versions of iPhone\/iPad, as well as devices with Android platform that have the proprietary Google Play Services package installed. <\/p>\n
iPhone\/iPad devices with iOS versions up to 16.4, as well as smartphones with alternative Android firmware provided without Google services (for example, GrapheneOS), will not be able to pass the new captcha. The essence of the QR code-based method lies in confirming ownership of a certified device.
