The Khronos Group has released an update for the Vulkan graphics API 1.4.351. This release is technical in nature and includes six new extensions, specification fixes, and further infrastructure preparation for future GPUs and game engines.<\/p>\n
The most notable new feature is the VK_KHR_shader_bfloat16 extension, which adds support for the BFloat16 format in shaders. This format is actively used in machine learning tasks and AI acceleration, allowing for reduced memory requirements and increased computational performance compared to FP32. The extension is primarily aimed at modern GPUs with hardware support for AI workloads.<\/p>\n
