Release occurred MuseScore Studio 4.7<\/strong>, a free notation editor for Linux, Windows, and macOS. In the new version, the developers focused on engraving, guitar notation, enhancing everyday tasks, and refining the audio engine. The project's code is distributed under the license GPLv3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The main change for guitarists is the new display system dive lines<\/strong> \u2014 techniques using a tremolo arm. Such elements can now be displayed on the tablature staff, above it, and on the regular notation staff; playback support is also announced for them. Additionally, the transposition modes for capos have been redesigned: the score can be viewed in both sounding and played pitches, while for tablature a non-transposed mode has been added where the capo is used only for simplifying fingering. Guitar fret diagrams and chord notations are now considered during score transposition.<\/p>\n

The engraving tools have been significantly expanded. The line palette now features arrowheads for text lines, and brackets have been added for grouping notes, which can be used, for example, to distribute parts between hands in piano music, indicate barre chords on the guitar, or for editorial remarks. Chords can now be enclosed in parentheses through existing property settings, and syllable extension lines and dotted lines in song texts have become selectable and suitable for precise manual editing.<\/p>\n

The interface and note entry have received small but useful changes. A double-click on a note in a chord now selects the entire chord, and pressing R repeats it on the next beat. The mixer now has a search field for sounds and effects, navigation by first letters has been added to long dropdown lists, and new controls for enharmonic notation have appeared in the tool menu. When inputting with a MIDI keyboard, the selected accidental in the input panel is now used as a hint for recording the entered notes and chords.<\/p>\n

To speed up editing, duration change commands have been added: the Q and W keys now decrease or increase the duration of the selected note or range of notes by a factor of two. The search and jump command can now highlight a range of measures, and there is an option in the appearance settings to automatically enable inverted score display when using the application's dark theme.<\/p>\n

The audio stack has also been improved. Developers have revamped the audio engine, which should enhance performance and reduce latency across all supported operating systems. Support for Windows has been restored. ASIO<\/strong>, and it is now possible to use a buffer of 256 samples to reduce latency. A new plugin has been added, Tuning and Temperaments<\/strong>, which replaces the three previous tuning and temperament plugins. Basic SoundFont MS Basic playback has been improved with the return of the low-pass filter, and when exporting to WAV, options for 16 and 24 bit resolutions are now available.<\/p>\n

Another notable innovation is video export. MuseScore Studio 4.7 can export a MP4 file<\/strong> with a scrolling score and audio accompaniment via the Publish \u2192 Export menu. MIDI Machine Control support has also been added, allowing compatible VST plugins to control the playback cursor position in the score.<\/p>\n

In the technical aspect, numerous crashes at application launch and errors in multi-monitor configurations have been fixed. Qt has been updated to version 6.10.2<\/strong>. The release also includes over a hundred changes from the community; among them, developers highlight the new tuning plugin, tools for mass changes to enharmonic notation, improvements to selection repeat with the R key, enhancements to duration change, and new WAV export modes.<\/p>\n

For Linux, the main bootable version on the project's website includes MuseScore Studio itself; to use MuseSounds separately, MuseSounds Manager must be installed. Additional builds, including a portable EXE for Windows, are available on the GitHub release page. Users of Windows and macOS will also be offered the update via MuseScore Studio or MuseHub.<\/p>\n
