The release of syncspirit version 0.4.5 is now available, enabling automatic continuous synchronization of user files across multiple devices. This project addresses similar tasks as the proprietary Resilio Sync system (formerly BitTorrent Sync). Syncspirit is written in C++ and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. The graphical interface is built using the FLTK library; it utilizes a domestic embedded DBMS, libmdbx, for database storage and employs the actor framework rotor for event handling. Pre-built binaries are available for Linux (x86_64, AppImage), Windows (supports Windows XP), and macOS.<\/p>\n
Syncspirit is an independent implementation of the BEP synchronization protocol proposed by the Syncthing project. Synchronized data is not uploaded to third-party cloud storage; instead, it is directly replicated between user systems when they are simultaneously online. Syncspirit seamlessly integrates with Syncthing nodes at the protocol level and utilizes the Syncthing infrastructure to identify network participants (this feature can be disabled).<\/p>\n
Unlike the Syncthing project, which is written in Go and uses a client-server architecture with a REST API (with a web browser as the client), syncspirit provides both a background process implementation (syncspirit-daemon) and a separate application with a graphical interface, enabling more efficient memory usage.<\/p>\n

Automatic monitoring of changes in the file system has been implemented, with subsequent synchronization to the cluster (available system mechanisms inotify, ReadDirectoryChangesW, and kqueue are used).\n
The capability for additional scanning of arbitrary nested directories has been added.\n
Automatic rejection of files with names that cannot be represented in UTF8 has been ensured.\n
The ability to regenerate certificates has been introduced.\n
Memory consumption has been reduced (approximately by 30-40%), and CPU load has been decreased.\n
The ability to manually specify root certificates has been added (relevant for systems with expired system certificates).\n
Compatibility with Syncthing 2.0 has been improved.\n
