The release of the Omarchy 4.0 distribution has been published. The project is developed by David Heinemeier Hansson, the author of the Ruby on Rails web framework, who seeks to create the ideal Linux environment for himself based on the principle of 'Omakase Computing,' which suggests that most users, at the beginning of their journey, don't know exactly what they want, and it would be better for them not to struggle with choosing, but to use a set of tools provided by someone whose competence and taste they trust. The project's developments are distributed under the MIT license. The size of the ISO image is 6.2 GB. <\/p>\n

Omarchy is based on the Arch Linux package base, but it does not simply offer a set of pre-installed packages; it attempts to provide an environment of compatible applications selected with aesthetics and task efficiency in mind. According to David, for high productivity, motivation is important, and part of that motivation is a beautiful and aesthetic environment. The graphical environment is built on the composite manager Hyprland with a mosaic window layout. <\/p>\n

The distribution does not aim to resemble Windows or macOS, to please the majority, or to seem familiar to users. Instead of targeting a hypothetical average user, Omarchy only offers applications that David regularly uses \u2014 from Neovim, Chromium, and LibreOffice to Spotify, Omawrite, Foot, and Zoom.
