Siemens has announced the termination of the OpenRadioss development as an open project and has transformed it into a proprietary product. The OpenRadioss repository has been removed from GitHub, and the website openradioss.org now redirects users to a page with information about the project's closure. Companies interested in continuing to use OpenRadioss are encouraged to transition to the proprietary product Simcenter Radioss, and for researchers, scientists, and industrial partners, the Simcenter Radioss R&D Program (SCRDP) has been launched, allowing access to the platform's code under a special agreement. <\/p>\n
The OpenRadioss code was opened in 2022 under the AGPLv3 license and has been developed as a research project with community involvement for four years. Siemens has now decided to create a professional product for engineering calculations and 3D simulation based on OpenRadioss, investing in its development and providing full support. OpenRadioss is designed to solve problems in continuum mechanics, such as the strength calculation of engineering structures in highly nonlinear tasks involving large plastic deformations of the material being studied.
