Microsoft has announced the implementation of official support for desktop systems based on Linux within the Microsoft Defender platform. Features such as protection against viruses and malware, tracking of unpatched vulnerabilities, threat analysis, isolation and inventory of devices, management of security-related settings, as well as detection and response to attacks (EDR \u2014 Endpoint Detection and Response) are now available. It has been stated that Microsoft Defender can be used not only for protecting Linux servers but also for workstations running Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, RHEL, openSUSE, SUSE, and derivative distributions.
