All applications are intended to be run in isolation from the main system, and for packages that do not support isolation, a layer for execution using virtualization will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>To control applications' access to system and external resources, a permissions request mechanism is being developed, requiring user confirmation for access, for example, when snap packages attempt to access files in the home directory, the webcam, or the microphone. Dynamic output of requests is generated based on an analysis of system call accesses, and access restrictions are organized using AppArmor. <\/p>\n<p>Development is being carried out with an eye toward three basic usage scenarios:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> A workstation where the main activity involves using a web browser and working with web applications. This scenario is considered the quickest to implement, as there are already ready-made snap packages for Firefox and Chromium, and support has been established for permission requests when accessing the camera and microphone.\n<li class=\"l\"> A system for software developers that allows multiple development environments to be used simultaneously, installed in isolated environments using the workshop toolkit, which utilizes LXD for container management. If necessary, to run applications from deb packages, flatpak packages, or classic snap packages not running on Ubuntu Core, containers or virtualization will be utilized.\n<li class=\"l\"> A system for computer gamers built around the Steam snap package. Components of the gaming stack, such as Proton, Mesa, and drivers, will also be delivered in snap format, allowing for the installation of the latest versions of these components or the use of different versions with different games.\n<\/ul>\n<p>In preparation for the next release of Ubuntu, work is planned to separate the components of the desktop environment into different modules, create snap interfaces to support various functions and usage scenarios, and test the new architecture of Ubuntu Core Desktop on the aforementioned three usage scenarios. Additionally, cooperation has begun with KDE Neon project developers to create a version of the KDE Neon distribution implemented on top of Ubuntu Core, which will allow for the adaptation of Ubuntu
