Microsoft previously introduced the updated Chromium-based Edge browser as a preview version for Windows 10. The new version is available in Developer and Canary variants. In the coming months, developers promised to release more versions, including for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.<\/p>\n

While preliminary builds are only available for Windows 10, they can be installed on Windows 7 and even run successfully. It is reported that the unofficial versions work excellently on 'seven'.<\/p>\n

Essentially, Microsoft is merely blocking the download of the browser through official links for Windows 7 and 8.1 users. However, if you download the full installer, it can be used on older OS versions.<\/p>\n

The company also confirmed that a version for macOS is already on its way. There has been no official talk about a Linux version yet, but given that the Chromium engine also supports this platform, there is no doubt that it will be released as well. It is worth noting that Microsoft Edge can currently be downloaded and installed, but only 64-bit versions are available, so the OS architecture must be appropriate.<\/p>\n
