Google has begun shutting down its social network Google+, which effectively ceased to function for regular users. The corporate part of the network remains operational and has now been renamed Currents. This applies to those using the G Suite package.<\/p>\n

Currently, the Currents service is in beta, and existing content within organizations can be transferred after registration. Developers claim that the new system will facilitate communication within organizations, keep everyone informed, and enable managers to stay in touch with employees. The service allows for quick note publishing, adding tags, and assigning priorities. The design has also been updated for quicker information publication.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Google already had a service called Currents, which was initially used for reading magazines. Later, it evolved into Google Play Newsstand, and then into Google News.<\/p>\n

Notably, Google had acknowledged security issues with its social network due to a vulnerability that allowed access to data from private and optional profile fields. These included, for example, email addresses, names, age, and gender information. All of this data could be read by developers of third-party applications.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, other information, such as Google+ posts, messages, phone numbers, or G Suite content, was unavailable. However, as they say, \"there was still a trace left.\" Additionally, the social network was underutilized, which, combined with technical issues, led to the closure of the resource.<\/p>\n
