The demand for resources to store and process data is constantly growing, and so are the electricity tariffs. Traditional monitoring and management systems cannot answer questions about how much electricity is consumed, who is consuming it, and how to save it. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" name=\"habracut\"><\/a><\/noindex>They also fail to provide answers to other questions facing data center maintenance specialists:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the center?<\/li>\n<li>How to configure equipment and create a reliable infrastructure for mission-critical components?<\/li>\n<li>How to establish effective management of the most active areas?<\/li>\n<li>How to improve the data center management system?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>That is why DCIM, a cutting-edge monitoring and management system for data centers, is replacing outdated non-integrated systems. This allowed for the integration of disparate components into a unified system, where all information from the data center infrastructure elements began to flow. A virtual electricity metering device was developed to control costs.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Result:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduction of the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR);<\/li>\n<li>Improvement of service availability and the eco-friendliness of the data center;<\/li>\n<li>Reduction of electricity costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Although the monitoring and management system for the data center can address a wide range of tasks, the initial focus should be on the main issue \u2013 the business pain point where implementing DCIM will bring the most benefit.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. <\/strong><strong>The Indian company Tata Communications.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Specialization: <\/strong>The world's largest telecommunications services provider.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Task. <\/strong>For eight data centers, each occupying a four-story building with two halls, where 200 racks are installed, a centralized repository for IT equipment data was required. They receive individual reports on energy consumption. The PUE metrics across the data centers were planned to be used to develop measures to increase energy efficiency and reduce costs.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution. <\/strong>Installation of the Operation Platform modules and PUE Energy system for Delta InfraSuite Manager, along with the integration of various devices from different brands to optimize monitoring.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Result: <\/strong>Staff gained the ability to observe the performance of the data center equipment. PUE metrics provided managers with the necessary information to enhance efficiency and reduce electricity costs. Data on varying loads on the cooling system and other critical parameters enabled the company's specialists to ensure the availability of mission-critical applications and equipment.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Modular DCIM solutions allow for phased implementation of the system.
