Valve Corporation released<\/a><\/noindex> is releasing the project build Proton 4.2-3<\/a><\/noindex>, which is based on the developments of the Wine project and aims to enable the launch of gaming applications created for Windows on Linux, available in the Steam catalog. The project's developments is distributed<\/a><\/noindex> are licensed under the BSD license. As original Wine and related projects, such as DXVK and vkd3d, become ready, the changes developed in Proton are ported.<\/p>\n

Proton allows direct launching of Windows-only gaming applications in the Linux version of Steam. The package includes an implementation of DirectX 10\/11 (based on DXVK<\/a><\/noindex>) and 12 (based on vkd3d<\/a><\/noindex>), which operates through DirectX calls translation into the Vulkan API, provides enhanced support for game controllers and the capability to use fullscreen mode regardless of screen resolution supported in games. Compared to the original Wine, the performance of multithreaded games has significantly increased thanks to the application of patches \u201cesync<\/a><\/noindex>\u201d (Eventfd Synchronization).<\/p>\n
