Yesterday, NVIDIA officially introduced its most basic graphics card. <\/a>GeForce GTX 1650<\/a><\/noindex>. Many expected that along with the presentation, reviews of the novelty would be published on specialized sites, including ours. However, this did not happen, as NVIDIA did not provide reviewers with drivers for this accelerator in advance.<\/p>\n

Typically, specialized resources receive NVIDIA graphics cards prior to the official release along with a new version of drivers that already includes full support for the new accelerator. This allows for comprehensive testing without worrying that the drivers will influence the results. Testing a new graphics card with an old driver version would yield results far different from what regular users can expect.<\/p>\n

But in the case of the new GeForce GTX 1650, reviewers, though not all, only received the graphics card itself, without the corresponding driver version. Therefore, the opportunity to begin comprehensive testing of the new accelerator only arose yesterday when NVIDIA released the driver package. <\/a>GeForce Game Ready 430.39 WHQL<\/a><\/noindex> with support for the new graphics card on its website.<\/p>\n

Some reviewers and users speculated that NVIDIA did not provide the drivers in advance because they were unsure whether the graphics card would meet the expectations of potential buyers. In other words, reviews could indicate that the graphics card does not offer impressive performance, which would negatively impact orders and sales at launch. This way, the company can gather quite a few orders for its new product and secure decent initial sales.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, NVIDIA could have provided the drivers in advance and simply imposed an embargo on reviews to a later date, after the graphics cards were released. They could also have started accepting pre-orders before the launch. Such options would not have caused as much confusion as the decision not to provide drivers to reviewers. However, one should not forget Hanlon's razor: \"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.\" This means NVIDIA might have simply forgotten to provide professional resources with the drivers. And finally, it's possible that the necessary driver was not ready and NVIDIA was still finalizing it until the last moment.<\/p>\n

In any case, the public release of the Game Ready 430.39 WHQL driver with support for the GeForce GTX 1650 has already taken place, and our lab will publish a review of the new product as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n
