The Dell presentation, which the well-known Dutch site <\/a>was guided by<\/a><\/noindex> when describing Intel's upcoming plans to announce new processors, initially focused on the mobile and commercial product segment. As rightly <\/a>noted<\/a><\/noindex> independent experts noted, in the consumer segment, the timeline for new product releases from Intel might differ, and yesterday this thesis found confirmation in a new publication on the pages of the site <\/a>Tweakers.net<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n

The slide title accurately described the target market segment: \"desktop and client.\" This leaves no doubt that the presentation outlines Intel's plans regarding the release of desktop processors for consumers who are ready to purchase components in bulk for custom computer assembly. However, the slide also includes an important note on the division of target segments, which we will discuss later.<\/p>\n

Thus, we see that the formal debut of the 14nm Comet Lake processors in desktop form is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. The summary states that they will be available in the consumer segment starting from the first quarter of 2020, while in the corporate segment, it will be in the second quarter of the same year. Clearly, it won't be possible to avoid waiting a bit longer.<\/p>\n

The existence of ten cores in these processors, which has been long discussed amidst rumors, is also confirmed. The TDP level does not exceed 95W. There will be no change in the manufacturing technology, so the statement regarding the absence of 10nm processors in Intel's desktop segment production program is valid for the period \"until the end of 2020.\" However, of course, given favorable circumstances, Intel's plans may change by then.<\/p>\n

Another important point mentioned on the slide is the timeline for announcing Cascade Lake-X processors. Rumors have previously suggested their release in the third quarter of this year, and now this can be stated with greater confidence. The Glacier Falls platform will host 14nm processors with up to 18 cores. Therefore, in this respect, the successors to Skylake-X will not raise the bar higher. Judging by the mention of the Intel X299 chipset, compatibility with the old chipset will be maintained. One can hope that compatibility with older motherboards will also remain. In any case, the TDP level will not exceed 150W.<\/p>\n

How will the Cascade Lake-X processors differ from their predecessors? Based on fragmented mentions in open <\/a>sources<\/a><\/noindex> We can conclude that the third-level cache size will remain the same, while the clock speeds may increase. Intel has repeatedly stated with pride that it knows how to optimize the 14nm manufacturing process to create conditions conducive to improving the consumer qualities of its processors. Apparently, yet another 'plus' in the description of the 14nm process generation in this case will manifest as an improvement in frequency potential.<\/p>\n
