The analytics company Net Applications has released its April statistics on the global web browser market. According to the data presented, Google Chrome continues to be the most popular browser among personal computer users, with a market share of a substantial 65.4 percent. In second place is Firefox (10.2%), and third is Internet Explorer (8.4%). The Microsoft Edge browser, which replaced Internet Explorer, is only used on 5.5% of computers connected to the global network. Rounding out the top five is Safari with a 3.6% market share.<\/p>\n

In the mobile sector, which includes smartphone and tablet users, Chrome also holds a leading position with 63.5% of the audience. The second most popular is Safari (26.4% market share), followed by the Chinese QQ Browser (2.7%). Last month, web surfing via Firefox was done by 1.8% of mobile device owners, with roughly one and a half percent browsing internet pages using the classic Android browser. There is a clear dominant position for Google's products across all segments of the browser market.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that despite Microsoft Edge's rather shaky position in the global browser market, the software giant's development team continues to enhance and improve their product. Just recently, the company announced<\/a><\/noindex> released a new version of the Edge web browser based on the open-source Chromium project. By betting on Open Source, Microsoft hopes to jump on the last train leaving the station and attract the user audience to their side.<\/p>\n
