Microsoft has previously begun using the open-source Chromium browser as the foundation for its web browser Edge. The application is already available<\/a><\/noindex> available for Windows 10, albeit in the form of a test build. Google, it seems, fully supports this move and welcomes Microsoft's contribution. However, some of the search giant's applications do not<\/a><\/noindex> function correctly in Edge.<\/p>\n

For instance, the Google Hangouts Meet messaging service does not work in it. When attempting to open the site, the system suggests downloading Chrome or Firefox. However, the corporation from Mountain View refuted this and stated that the reality is quite different.<\/p>\n

However, the problems with the messenger are not over. Users noticed a notification about an «unsupported browser» when opening any Google Docs document. Interestingly, the classic Edge is listed among the compatible browsers. It turns out the issue is related to its development status \u2014 the new browser has not yet been released, so it hasn't been added to Google's «whitelist» for Google Docs. This fact was confirmed by the «corporation of good», which also stated that it will be added after the release. The same applies to Hangouts Meet.<\/p>\n

Thus, it remains to wait for the release of at least a beta version to draw conclusions. The final build is expected throughout this year, presumably by the end. Whether it will completely replace the classic Edge and when this will happen is unknown. It is possible that such a version may appear in the fall update 19H2 or next year in 20H1.
