Windows Lite is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated products from Microsoft. However, it seems that users will have to be patient and wait some more. How it is reported<\/a><\/noindex>, work on supporting Win32 applications has not progressed as expected at the company. This will prevent Windows Lite from running classic versions of programs, greatly limiting its applicability.<\/p>\n

Regarding the new timelines, sources claim that Microsoft plans to begin a new phase of internal testing by the end of this year. This means that a public announcement should not be expected before 2020, as testing will take time. Currently, it is known that Windows Lite is being tested on Surface devices, including Surface Go and Surface Pro 6.<\/p>\n

The OS itself will not be released as a standalone system. It is positioned as a Full Flash Update, meaning it will be pre-installed on devices by default. In particular, it could become the software foundation for a dual-screen laptop named Centaurus, of course, if the project gets the 'green light.' The system will also compete with Chrome OS.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that Windows Lite is expected to replace the unsuccessful Windows 10 S, as well as partially Windows RT. Although 'ten' can run on ARM processors, such solutions are still expensive and impractical. Perhaps the 'light' version will help to expand the audience. <\/p>\n
