DXVK can be used to run 3D applications and games on Linux using Wine, serving as a higher-performance alternative to the Direct3D 11 implementation built into Wine, which operates on top of OpenGL. In some games<\/a><\/noindex> the performance of the Wine+DXVK combination differs<\/a><\/noindex> is 10-20% better than running on Windows, while using the Direct3D 11 implementation based on OpenGL shows a more significant performance drop. <\/p>\n

The latest release features a dedicated thread for command buffer transmission, enhancing performance in some multi-core configurations. Additionally, the frequency of command buffer submission has been increased to minimize stalls and encourage more active GPU usage. Among the applications positively impacted by these changes is the game Quake Champions.<\/p>\n

Support has been added for specific rendering extensions that are not officially defined in the Direct3D 11 specification and are provided separately by manufacturers through additional libraries for Windows. These extensions are necessary for the experimental project DXVK-AGS<\/a><\/noindex> implementing AGS (AMD GPU Services) extensions, proposed in AMD AGS SDK<\/a><\/noindex> and allowing the use of certain optimizations, including those used in the games Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5. <\/p>\n

Among the fixes: Slightly reduced CPU load in some games. Resolved an issue that caused extra elements to be added to the state cache and the recompilation of identical Vulkan handlers. Fixed a bug that led to crashes or improper usage of Vulkan when applying the ClearView method. Disabled the workaround in NVAPI that was used to address issues in the game Mirror's Edge Catalyst on systems with NVIDIA GPU.<\/p>\n
