When I connected an antenna to the routers, the speed increased dramatically. This prompted me to conduct a comparative test of antennas that would not only provide connectivity in a private home but also make it as reliable as in an urban apartment with a wired connection. You can find out how this testing concluded below. Traditionally, for those who prefer watching rather than reading, I created a video.

<noindex></noindex>
Testing methodology
Without a proper structured approach, one cannot achieve quality results, and the aim of this test was to choose the best antenna for maximum-speed Internet access. The router <noindex>Zyxel LTE3316-M604</noindex>, which rightfully took first place in the previous test, was chosen as the benchmark for measurement. This device can work both with a regular wired provider while utilizing a backup 3G/4G connection when necessary, and can also operate completely autonomously using 3G and 4G cellular networks. In my test, only the 4G network was used since it transmits only data and the load of voice traffic does not affect this communication channel.
For the test, I selected three different antennas belonging to different types: for the first test, to obtain clear values, the router operated without external antennas, using only its built-in antennas. The second test involved an antenna with an omnidirectional radiation pattern. The third test used a panel antenna, which has a narrower radiation pattern that was used in the previous test. The fourth stage involved testing a highly directional mesh parabolic antenna.
All speed measurements were made on a weekday during the daytime to keep the load on the base station minimal and maximize download speed. At each stage, the test was conducted three times and the average download and upload speeds were calculated. The router was connected to the same base station, and the antennas were fine-tuned according to the signal readings in the web interface of the router.
I also created a daily chart showing download and upload speeds in my area, which clearly demonstrates users' Internet performance. I believe the provider faces a similar load on their base station. Interestingly, the download speed fluctuates significantly, while the upload speed remains relatively stable—indicating that users download more than they upload.

<img decoding="async" alt="Internet for suburban homeowners. This antenna isn’t boasting any extreme gain, but it does support MIMO technology, meaning there are two antennas in one housing. Additionally, it is weatherproof and comes with pre-installed 5-meter cable assemblies. The frequency range covers all segments from GSM to LTE, thus supporting 2G/3G/4G networks. It includes a mount for a pole or can be attached directly to a wall. Now let's discuss the situations in which it can be used, given its size and gain. The first thing that comes to mind is shielded environments: a semi-basement or basement, a metal warehouse or hangar, a ship or boat. In all these cases, reinforced concrete and metal effectively shield external signals, and while radio technology might perform well outside, reception inside can be virtually nonexistent. In this case, such an antenna will solve the connection issue. It can be used not only for routers but also for repeaters. However, it will reveal its full potential when used with a router, and the omnidirectional pattern works effectively on moving objects, eliminating the need to point the antenna at a single tower. In my experience, the speed with the antenna was slightly lower than without it, as the antenna's gain is similar to that of the built-in antennas in the router, and losses occur over the 5-meter cables.

+

Complete set with mounting hardware and pre-installed cable, suitable for shielded rooms, weatherproof

—

Features low gain

<noindex>OMEGA 3G/4G MIMO</noindex>
Price: 4500 rubles

<img decoding="async" alt="Internet for suburban homeowners. It has proven to be very effective both when working directly with the tower and with reflected signals. Since its directional pattern is narrower than that of an omnidirectional antenna, the gain coefficient has increased to 16-18 dBi, depending on the signal frequency. Moreover, it operates in MIMO mode, which provides a speed boost. The standard mount on the pole allows adjustment both horizontally and vertically. Additionally, the mount can rotate the antenna 45 degrees to change polarization — sometimes this offers a gain of several megabits. It's large, weatherproof, and efficient! Without this antenna, RSRP/SINR readings were -106/10, but with the panel antenna, they improved to -98/11. This resulted in a download speed increase from 13 to 28 Mbps and an upload speed from 12 to 16 Mbps. Thus, a doubling of download speed on the same base station — an excellent result. Furthermore, due to its small angle, the antenna is able to filter out closer but more congested base stations and switch to others that are less loaded. Just keep in mind that it’s best to make the cable assembly shorter to avoid signal loss in the wires.

+

Signal amplification allows for doubling the speed, the directional pattern enables the selection of a less congested base station, and the convenient mounting kit has not lost its quality over the years.

—

With a size of 45x45 centimeters, it has sail-like drag, which requires a quality base for mounting.

<noindex>PRISMA 3G/4G MIMO</noindex>
Price: 6000 r

<img decoding="async" alt="Internet for suburban homeowners. It's not round, as is typical for satellite antennas, which even positively affects the radiation pattern. Furthermore, the mesh design significantly reduces wind resistance — the wind simply passes through it, which hardly affects the signal focusing. The antenna operates in the frequency range from 1700 to 2700 MHz. There are three positions for the feedhorn: one for each frequency. The instructions clearly show how to position the feedhorn relative to the antenna to achieve maximum gain at the desired frequency, which means you need to know the frequencies your provider operates on. The web interface of the router helps with this, clearly displaying the operating frequency. Working with this antenna is somewhat more complex; precise tuning is required since the beam angle is very narrow. An obvious advantage of this solution is the ability to accurately point towards the necessary base station, even if several stations are almost in a straight line. There are also downsides: the time for tuning to the base station noticeably increases, and working with reflected signals becomes more challenging. But the most significant factor is the gain coefficient. It ranges from 25 to 27 dBi. In my case, this allowed me to improve the signal from the initial RSRP/SINR -106/10 to -90/19 dBi, and the download speed increased from 13 to 41 Mbps, while the upload speed rose from 12 to 21 Mbps. This means the download speed increased more than threefold! In remote areas, where cellular signal may not be available at all, it is quite possible to catch both 3G and 4G signals from several dozen kilometers away!

+

Excellent gain coefficient, mesh design reduces wind resistance, adjustable feedhorn for the desired frequency

—

Dimensions

Summary
<img decoding="async" alt="Internet for suburban homeowners. However, you can't leave the router outside, so this option is suitable for an apartment or office, but not where you can't even see the tower with binoculars.
The FREGAT MIMO antenna is suitable for those who cannot receive a radio signal where the router is installed for various reasons. These can include shielded walls, low placement, or other interference. Having two antennas in one housing supports MIMO technology, which should increase performance.
As for the OMEGA 3G/4G MIMO panel antenna, it has proven to be very reliable. It works well with both direct and reflected signals, offers multiple mounting options, and provides a good gain. Its small size minimizes wind resistance, resulting in noticeable speed improvements. It is a safe choice if the 3G/4G signal is weak or completely absent.
The PRISMA 3G/4G MIMO parabolic mesh antenna is perfect for those in desperate situations, as its amplification and the ability to precisely tune into a base station can establish a connection even in the most remote villages, provided there is a cellular operator's base station within a few dozen kilometers.

Conclusion

I currently have the OMEGA 3G/4G MIMO antenna working. I had to slightly adjust the mounting pole on the wall as the antenna's dimensions dictate certain conditions. With a 3-meter cable and the selected router, I observed speeds of up to 50 Mbps when the base station was least loaded. This approaches the theoretical speed limit of 75 Mbps under the current conditions of the base station: Band3 frequency - 1800 MHz, channel width 10 MHz. However, the main point is that at a distance of more than 8 km from the base station, I managed to achieve speeds close to those possible very near the tower. I will provide an example image of signal coverage using various frequencies.

<img decoding="async" alt="Internet for suburban homeowners. Achieving maximum speed in 4G networks.
