In May, RUVDS opened a new hermetic zone in Germany, in the country's largest financial and telecommunications city, Frankfurt. The highly reliable Telehouse Frankfurt data center is one of the data centers of the European company Telehouse (headquartered in London), which is a subsidiary of the global Japanese telecommunications corporation. \nWe have previously written about our other locations. Today, we will provide more details about the Frankfurt data center.
\n<\/a><\/noindex>
\nThe Telehouse Frankfurt system is connected to the second largest Internet Exchange Point in Europe \u2013 DE-CIX<\/a><\/noindex>, which offers premium-class services and is a leading global platform for interconnection, handling peak traffic at speeds of over six terabits per second. Collaboration with several hundred international Internet providers makes it an ideal means for cooperation among rapidly growing multinational corporations, as well as small and medium enterprises that require a reliable access point in the safest location near the largest economic hub in Europe. Security<\/h2>\n

\nJust as a theater begins with a coat rack, a data center starts with its \"premises\" area. Everything here is serious and succinctly German. The facility is surrounded by an unimposing fence, which, however, is equipped with a modern detection system. Video surveillance is conducted not only inside the courtyard but also outside the premises and inside the data center, with constant recording and storage of recordings for three months. <\/p>\n

\nSecurity systems utilize an on-site access authorization program, a biometric access control system, and a 24\/7 control center with staff from the security service working around the clock. <\/p>\n

Infrastructure<\/h2>\n

\nTelehouse occupies an area of 67,000 m\u00b2, of which 25,000 m\u00b2 is a fully equipped colocation space. This is a multi-tier data center designed to meet a wide range of client requirements. In addition to offering colocation services with racks, cages, and dedicated server rooms, it allows for the construction of dedicated data centers for clients on its premises. Thus, Telehouse as a whole meets the reliability level of TIER 3, but additionally offers available (the company consistently emphasizes this adjective in its informational materials) local areas for building private data centers that meet the TIER 4 standard.<\/p>\n

\nTelehouse Frankfurt operates the largest data center campus in Frankfurt \u2013 a city telecommunications hub with numerous operators and providers. The campus includes 3 data centers that have access to DE-CIX \u2013 the leading internet exchange in Central and Eastern Europe. In November 2013, the Telehouse Frankfurt data center became a partner DE-CIX Apollon<\/a><\/noindex>, providing customers with direct access to their platform, making Telehouse Frankfurt the best choice for international operators looking to integrate data centers into their communication networks. We took advantage of this. The server equipment is installed in a 19-inch individually enclosed rack cabinet. Dedicated personal space (up to 900 m\u00b2) is enclosed in cages built to client specifications.<\/p>\n

\nThe DE-CIX Apollon platform in Frankfurt is the first of its kind. It utilizes ADVA FSP 3000 and Infinera CloudExpress 2 optical networks for its optical backbone, as well as next-generation Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent) service routers for its IP network series 7950 XRS and 7750 SR. The optical backbone has a total capacity of 48 terabits per second in a mesh network topology, providing a transmission speed of up to 8 terabits per second per fiber. DE-CIX Apollon offers redundancy of three to one: all four cores are active, with one dedicated solely for backup. \"Data
\nDE-CIX takes pride in being the first IX in history to introduce a fully automated patch robot: Patchy McPatchbot. This optical distribution frame (ODF) is used instead of a standard rack and patch panel, significantly enhancing customer interaction efficiency. Now a port can be deployed or upgraded within minutes without the need for physical intervention by a technician. In 2018, during real-time operations at the Frankfurt campus, over 450 customers were migrated from one data center to another. About 15 kilometers of fiber optic cable were laid during this process. More than 40% of all data traffic at the world's leading internet exchange was transferred seamlessly. <\/p>\n
