Many have noticed that there are many Jews among millionaires. And among high-ranking officials. And among great scientists (22% of Nobel laureates). That is, Jews make up only about 0.2% of the world's population, but are significantly more represented among the successful. How do they achieve this?<\/p>\n

What's special about Jews<\/h2>\n

Once, I heard about a study from an American university (the link is lost, but if anyone can point it out \u2013 I would be grateful) that explored how Jews achieve success. They discovered that any <\/i> a group will be more successful than others if three factors come together. They must all be present simultaneously; one or two are not enough. So:<\/p>\n

  1. A sense of chosenness<\/b>. Not in the sense that you are entitled to have more than you currently possess. But in the sense that you have greater responsibility. You are held to higher standards. For Jews, this is the \"chosen people,\" Jesus was Jewish, and everything revolves around this. However, many cultures have a sense of chosenness.<\/li>\n
  2. A sense of insecurity<\/b>. Everyone has heard the term \"Jewish pogrom,\" but few know about others. Throughout history, Jews have faced harsher treatment than others; this is hard to dispute. However, there's no need to argue \u2013 what's important is that Jews themselves feel less secure than other peoples.<\/li>\n
  3. The ability to delay gratification<\/b>. Yes, that same (ambiguous) marshmallow test and all that. The ability to invest in long-term programs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    And if I'm not Jewish, what then?<\/h2>\n

    The study claimed that if all three factors align at the same time for any group or even an individual, that group or person will, on average, be more successful than others. But if we look closer and rephrase slightly, we find that:<\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

      \n
    1. The first factor essentially says to us: \"Work. What you have is not success; you deserve more.\" The usual motivation \"towards\" or \"carrot in front.\"<\/li>\n
    2. The second factor boils down to \"If you relax \u2013 problems will arise. Keep working.\" The usual motivation \"away from\" or \"carrot behind.\"<\/li>\n
    3. And the third boils down to \"not successful yet? That's how it should be. Work harder, it will come, but a bit later\" or \"never give up.\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Yes, it's that simple. Work, don't relax, keep working no matter what. Terms like 'insecurities' and 'chosen by God' are just ways to add emotions and enhance the significance of this principle.<\/p>\n
