Intel has released information about a new class of vulnerabilities in its processors \u2014 MDS (Microarchitectural Data Sampling). Like previous Spectre-class attacks, these new issues can lead to the leakage of sensitive data from the operating system, virtual machines, and other processes. It is claimed that the problems were initially identified by Intel employees and partners during an internal audit. In June and August 2018, independent researchers also reported on the issues at Intel, after which nearly a year was spent working with manufacturers and operating system developers to identify potential attack vectors and deliver fixes. AMD and ARM processors are not affected by this issue.\n<\/p>\n

\nIdentified vulnerabilities:<\/p>\n

CVE-2018-12126 \u2014 MSBDS (Microarchitectural Store Buffer Data Sampling), recovery of the contents of store buffers. Used in the Fallout attack. The severity rating is set at 6.5 (CVSS);<\/p>\n

CVE-2018-12127 \u2014 MLPDS (Microarchitectural Load Port Data Sampling), recovery of the contents of load ports. Used in the RIDL attack. CVSS 6.5;<\/p>\n

CVE-2018-12130 \u2014 MFBDS (Microarchitectural Fill Buffer Data Sampling), recovery of the contents of fill buffers. Used in the ZombieLoad and RIDL attacks. CVSS 6.5;<\/p>\n

CVE-2019-11091 \u2014 MDSUM (Microarchitectural Data Sampling Uncacheable Memory), recovery of the contents of uncacheable memory. Used in the RIDL attack. CVSS 3.8. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
