In 2017, Microsoft discontinued<\/a><\/noindex> the development of the Paint graphics editor. After that, the program was simply carried over from version to version, without changing its essence or adding anything new. Then a new feature has emerged<\/a><\/noindex> information that the app will «migrate» to the Windows Store, and recently it became<\/a><\/noindex> it became known that the program would not be removed from the Windows 10 May 2019 Update.<\/p>\n

Now, it seems, the company's intentions have changed even more. The program will not only be kept, but also, as it is reported<\/a><\/noindex>, improved. In the Windows blog, Brandon LeBlanc clarified that MSPaint is popular among many due to its simplicity and speed. According to him, new features will be available for the program in the May update.<\/p>\n

As is known, Paint has long been compatible with mouse and graphic tablet input, and now keyboard support will also be introduced. Additionally, developers have improved the editor's interaction with Windows Narrator and other similar screen reading applications. Whether the program's capabilities will be expanded in the future remains unclear. Currently, it is known that the program will «understand» arrow keys, Space, Shift, Ctrl, Tab, and Esc. Moreover, some images can be created using only the keyboard. An example is provided below.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the latest builds of Windows 10 also include Paint 3D, which, however, has not gained popularity. It seems that in Redmond, they have finally begun to change their strategy \u2014 not just to impose new features on users but also to listen to them.  We can only hope that this approach will continue to expand in the future.<\/p>\n
