As part of the project Serenity<\/a><\/noindex> a group of enthusiasts is developing a Unix-like operating system for the x86 architecture, featuring its own kernel and a graphical interface styled after operating systems from the late 1990s. The development is being done from scratch, out of interest, and is not based on the code of existing operating systems. The authors aim to bring SerenityOS to a level suitable for everyday use while preserving the aesthetic of 90s systems, supplemented with useful ideas from modern systems for experienced users. The code is written in C++ and is provided<\/a><\/noindex> under the BSD license. <\/p>\n
