Release of the JavaScript library is available Zdog 1.0<\/a><\/noindex>, implementing a 3D engine that simulates three-dimensional objects based on vector primitives from Canvas and SVG, i.e., creating a three-dimensional geometric space with actual rendering of flat shapes. The project code is open<\/a><\/noindex> is licensed under the MIT License. The library consists of only 2100 lines of code and occupies 28 KB without minification, yet allows for the creation of quite impressive objects, similar to the results produced by illustrators.<\/p>\n

The aim of the project is to provide tools that allow working with 3D objects as easily as with vector illustrations. The engine is inspired by an old computer game Dogz<\/a><\/noindex>, where flat two-dimensional shapes based on sprite graphics were used to create the 3D environment. <\/p>\n

\"Zdog<\/center><\/p>\n

3D object models in Zdog are formed using a simple declarative API and are composed through binding and grouping simple shapes<\/a><\/noindex>, such as rectangles, circles, triangles, segments, arcs, polygons, and curves. Zdog employs rounded shapes without pronounced polygonal irregularities. Simple shapes are visualized into more complex three-dimensional representations, such as spheres, cylinders, and cubes. From the developer's perspective, spheres are defined as points, tori as circles, and capsules as thick lines. <\/p>\n

Composite elements of objects are processed with respect to their relative positions and are anchored together with invisible anchors. All dynamic properties such as transformations, rotations, and scalings are vector operations defined through the Vector object. Polygonal meshes are supported for spatial objects.<\/p>\n
