Intel is set to revitalize the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) \u2014 a series of thematic conferences for developers, IT professionals, and industry press, where company representatives shared up-to-date information on cutting-edge technologies and developments. According to the Fudzilla website, this once-popular event may return this year.<\/p>\n

Recall that in 2017, Intel abandoned<\/a><\/noindex> the conduct of IDF conferences, which had been held annually for nearly two decades. The closure of traditional in-person events for developers occurred during the period when the company was led by former CEO Brian Krzanich, who made quite a few controversial decisions. The closure of IDF was clearly one of them. The main reason given for the cancellation of the developer conferences was a global shift in priorities, as Intel sought to move away from a focus on personal computers and become a company centered around data processing technologies.<\/p>\n

However, new Intel CEO Robert Swan attaches great importance to maintaining a constructive dialogue with users and clients. As he mentioned in one of his speeches, Intel needs to change its culture. \"Making good products and waiting for customers to come is no longer enough \u2014 the company must begin to think of itself as just one of many players and strive to tailor its products to customer needs,\" said the Intel CEO while addressing investors in early May. Naturally, if Intel is now setting such goals, an industry conference could play a significant role in fostering two-way communication between the company and its clients and users.<\/p>\n

Recently, Intel employees have frequently referenced the importance of engaging in dialogue with the community. A prime example is the program Odyssey<\/a><\/noindex>, where the company discusses its strategy regarding the development of graphic solutions with users. Additionally, at the beginning of the year, Intel launched a program for laptop manufacturers Project Athena<\/a><\/noindex>, which represents another form of engagement aimed at promoting the company's technologies in the mobile computing market. It is clear that the return of the IDF as a large-scale live event for the interested public, comprising enthusiasts and professionals, will fit well into this context.<\/p>\n

It remains unclear whether Intel will continue to use the name IDF or come up with a new name for the revived developer forum. It is also uncertain when exactly such a conference will take place. Previously, IDF sessions traditionally occurred in the first half of September, but the company may now opt for a different schedule.<\/p>\n
