Other significant differences include the inclusion of a PCI Express controller, two USB 3.0 ports (plus two USB 2.0 ports), and two Micro HDMI ports (previously one full-sized HDMI), allowing for image output to two monitors with 4K quality. The graphics accelerator VideoCore VI has been significantly updated, supporting OpenGL ES 3.0 and capable of decoding H.265 video at 4Kp60 (or 4Kp30 on two monitors). Power can be supplied via the USB-C port (previously USB micro-B), through GPIO, or via additional module<\/a><\/noindex> PoE HAT (Power over Ethernet).<\/p>\n

Moreover, the long-standing issue of insufficient RAM has been resolved \u2014 the board is now offered in versions with 1, 2, and 4 GB of RAM (priced at $35, $45, and $55 respectively), making the new board a suitable solution for creating workstations, gaming platforms, servers, smart home gateways, robotics control units, and modern multimedia systems. <\/p>\n

Enhanced gigabit Ethernet controller, now connected to the SoC via a separate RGMII bus, enabling full advertised performance. USB is now implemented through a separate VLI controller connected via PCI Express, providing a total bandwidth of 4Gbps. As before, the board is equipped with 40 GPIO ports, DSI (for touch screen connection), CSI (for camera connection), and a wireless communication chip supporting the 802.11ac standard, operating at frequencies of 2.4GHz and 5GHz, as well as Bluetooth 5.0.<\/p>\n

At the same time, a new version of the distribution has been released. Raspbian<\/a><\/noindex>, which provides full support for Raspberry Pi 4. The release is also notable for upgrading to the Debian 10 \"Buster\" package base (previously Debian 9 was used), a significant redesign of the user interface, and the involvement of the new Mesa V3D driver with substantially improved 3D support (including the use of OpenGL for browser acceleration). Two builds have been prepared for download \u2014 a reduced one (\"406 MB<\/a><\/noindex>) for server systems and a full version (1.1 GB<\/a><\/noindex>), shipped with the user environment PIXEL<\/a><\/noindex> (a fork of LXDE).
