As soon as we finish with this (complete abandonment of the need for XWayland, author's note), we plan to quickly transition X.org into a \"supported\" mode. The reality is that X.org is primarily maintained by us, and thus, if we stop allocating time to it, it's unlikely that new \"major\" releases will be issued, and possibly over time, it will decline. We will keep an eye on this, as we want to ensure that X.org remains supported until at least the end of the RHEL8 lifecycle, and let this be a friendly wish to everyone relying on our work to support the Linux graphics stack: move to Wayland, it\u2019s the future.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Given that the standard support cycle of Red Hat is at least 10 years (more for an additional fee), X.org will therefore receive updates from the company throughout this time.<\/p>\n
