Firefox Developers have introduced<\/a><\/noindex> Firefox's plan to label all pages opened over HTTP with an unsafe connection indicator is set to be implemented in version 70, scheduled for release on October 22. In Chrome, the indicator warning about the installation of an unsafe connection for pages opened via HTTP has been displayed since version 68.

\n(a year ago 70.3%, two years ago 59.7%), while in the USA \u2014 87.6%. The non-profit certificate authority Let’s Encrypt, community-controlled and providing certificates free of charge to everyone, has issued 106 million certificates covering approximately 174 million domains (last year it covered 80 million domains).<\/p>\n

The shift to labeling HTTP as unsafe is a continuation of previous efforts to enforce the transition to HTTPS in Firefox. For example, starting with the release Firefox 51<\/a><\/noindex> , the browser added an indicator for security issues when accessing pages that contain authentication forms without using HTTPS. Additionally, started<\/a><\/noindex> restriction<\/a><\/noindex> access to new Web APIs \u2014 in Firefox 67<\/a><\/noindex> for pages opened outside a secure context, system notifications via the Notifications API are prohibited, and in Firefox 68<\/a><\/noindex> in unsecured requests, calls to getUserMedia() for accessing multimedia sources (such as the camera and microphone) are blocked.
