The new flagship processor from AMD\u201412-core Ryzen 9 3900X\u2014was out of stock just two weeks after its release. Retailers who still have the new AMD flagship have started selling it at significantly inflated prices. This is, in fact, always the case during shortages.<\/p>\n

PCWorld reports that most major American online retailers, including Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy, and others, are out of stock of the new processors. Only Micro Center offers the option to place an order, but does not specify the availability of the Ryzen 9 3900X or delivery times. It\u2019s only easy to buy the new model on eBay, though the price is $740, which is nearly 50% higher than the recommended price of $499 for the Ryzen 9 3900X.<\/p>\n

This situation is not only affecting the flagship model. The slightly lower-tier eight-core Ryzen 7 3800X is also unavailable at many major American retailers. Again, only Micro Center reports availability, but only in physical stores. On eBay, the price of the Ryzen 7 3800X has skyrocketed from the recommended $399 to a more substantial $479.<\/p>\n

AMD comments on the situation as follows: \u201cWe are providing significant volumes of products to our retail and online partners. We are pleased to see an extremely positive response to the Ryzen 3000 series desktop processors and Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards. AMD is working quickly to replenish the stocks of retailers worldwide after significant demand.\u201d<\/p>\n

We hope that AMD will soon overcome these challenges so that everyone interested can purchase any Ryzen 3000 series processors. It is worth noting that the shortage only affects the higher-end AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors, while it is still easy to buy more affordable and less powerful AMD processors. For example, the eight-core Ryzen 7 3700X can be bought on Amazon and Newegg for the recommended price of $329.<\/p>\n
